Kawita Vatanajyankur is an emerging video artist, currently studying Bachelor of Fine Art (Painting) at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Kawita is originally from the city of Bangkok, Thailand where its culture has influenced her video and sound work. Kawita is graduating in December 2011.
Kawita has recently exhibited her first solo exhibition, "Walking on Water" in Melbourne, Australia at First Site Gallery and several group shows both in Australia and Thailand at Open Space Gallery(Melbourne), HOF Art Gallery(Bangkok),On Art Gallery(Bangkok)and Central World Shopping Mall(Bangkok)
In the Year 2012, Kawita is having her solo shows in Melbourne in March 28th-14th April at Seventh Gallery and in July 24th-10th August at Trocadero Art Space for her video works.
STUDIO
Kawita usually works outdoors and indoors in different spaces and environments both natural and urban such as the beach, the sea, abandoned buildings, markets,the pool (for underwater spaces), her own garden, bedroom and bathroom. However, she sets up her own studio space at her own garage in Bangkok, Thailand where her team (family members) work together for the production. She also sometimes works with her own brother, a sound artist, Parkin Vatanajyankur for the sound work within her video pieces.
