ABOUT KAWITA'S CURRENT PROJECT

My series of video work, performances and photographs are focused on the female's body and its relationship to different elements such as water, sand, wind and man-made materials such as plastic, paper, rubber and fabrics. The experimentations are developed to look at the action and reaction of the body in different spaces and environments, the transformation of the shape and form of the body that visually changed into a sculpture when affected physically from the elements and materials in order to examine the psychological, corporeal and cultural ways of viewing the human condition. The certain symbols contained in the videos are used to reflect the idea of violence, endurance, communication, as well as gender.

Dream

Dream

Duration : 16.26 mins

This video work is a continuation of my water-based objects experimentation last year with water balloons. As the balloons exploded, in a slow motion, the form slowly changed and transformed to another object matter, water. In this work, I was interested in how objects visually change, how they distort and effect the figure of the human body visually from human's action.

The old man

The Old man

Video duration : 10.59 mins

In this video, I again looked at the effects of water and how it visually effected the human body by using water and a huge rectangular glass for the experimentation. Gently and slowly, water was running over the glass that sat on top of the male's body, creating this computer-like effect that distorted the male's figure and made him appear almost transparent.
